The following rates and subscription options apply.
CMCA access
Access categories
Access to CMCA is available under four categories at different rates:
- UWA users (including visitors and adjuncts)
- WA Research Partner users* (including staff, students, adjuncts and clinical appointments)
- Publicly funded researcher user (including international researchers)
- External users (including industry)
* WA Research Partners are: UWA, Curtin University, Murdoch University and The University of Notre Dame.
* IMPORTANT NOTE: The WA Research Partner access agreement allows subsidised access to instruments for use of the asset (instrument), for the end user only. It does not include a subsidy for an operator or additional requests such as data analysis. These un-subsidised costs can be billed directly to the end user on request of these services.
Registration options
Registration is available under three options:
- Individual annual subscription (unlimited usage)
- Research group annual subscription (multiple individual users under one subscription, capped at 100 hours per annum – see out of hours time bonuses below)
- Individual hourly rate
For National Flagship Instruments, subscription access is not available with the exception of the NIF Flagship MRI, which is available under Research group subscription access.
For some instruments, per-sample charges apply instead of hourly rate charges.
All rates and charges below are exclusive of GST. GST is charged to non-UWA users.
Registration and training
Access follows the CMCA User Pathway beginning with registration. Once new users have completed the online registration, a New User Meeting will be scheduled with relevant CMCA staff. At this meeting, instruments and training needs will be determined and co-ordinated.
All first-time CMCA users pay a once-off $275 registration fee. Training is included as part of registration and returning users do not pay this fee.
Registration (Applies once only to all new users) | $275 flat fee per new user. |
Subscriptions
Annual subscriptions
Information for external user subscription access is available here.
Annual subscriptions are valid for one year from the date of registration.
Annual subscription 1 | UWA/WA Research Partner2 | Publicly funded researchers (including International researchers) |
---|---|---|
Research group (100 hrs usage cap) 3 | $3300 | $10,000 |
Individual researcher | $2750 | $8250 |
Individual HDR student 4 | $1000 | $3000 |
Individual undergraduate student 5 | $220 | $660 |
NOTES
- Annual individual subscriptions allow unlimited access (subject to booking rules being followed) with exception of the automated slide scanners (which are capped at 100 slides in total) and the Orbitrap mass spectrometer.
- The publicly funded researcher (including international researchers) rate reflects the real cost of usage: the UWA and WA Research Partner rate is subsidised as per the WA Research Partner access agreement.
- Research group subscriptions are valid for members of nominated research groups. To qualify, a group member must be approved by the nominated group leader. A new research group subscription may be purchased if the total hours cap is reached; this initiates a new 12-month period of validity. A request to extend a research group subscription to a second term will be granted if a group has unused hours. Research group subscriptions – After hours (5pm-9am): A 4-hours-for-1 time bonus applies to qualified after hours users. Limited staff support is available after hours. The NIF Flagship MRI is also available under Research group subscription access.
- HDR: high degree by research (Masters by Research and PhD).
- Includes master's by coursework and honours students. Individual undergraduate student subscriptions are valid for the duration of the student's research project only.
UWA visitors need confirmation of their status from their host Head of School or Centre Director.
Users may suspend an individual annual subscription for the purposes of parental leave or sabbatical, providing that the request is made and a return date is advised, prior to commencing the period of leave or sabbatical.
Additional charges for an operator are levied if necessary or agreed for an instrument accessed under subscription – these charges are the same as hourly operator charges as set out under hourly rates.
Hourly rates
Information for external user hourly access is available here.
Rates are quoted as per hour. A $55 administration fee is charged for each month during which instruments are accessed.
